Requirement: Strong Resistance
“Kaylangan talaga doon, malakas ang resistensya mo”, I remember the advice of Anaflor Residuo, my classmate who also work her practicum in DZRH a year ago.
I felt so exhausted! My work requires excellent multi-taking, strategies and STRONG RESISTANCE (emotionally and physically).
If you could have four ears or more, then have it. If you could have two mouths or more then seize it, and if you could have 8 arms or more, then get it. You must use and take all the opportunity to use all your senses. Everything is very important.
These past two days of straight working in the station feels like flogging me.
I think I am going to have a sick or I will die if I will not rest. During morning, the intense of heat outside burns me, inside the office, the coldness froze me, and in the evening, the rain outside will definitely kill me.

Pushing Badly for my Passion
July 16, 2010
Today is my schedule for an interview in Star Cinema, which I have received a call last Monday. I thought it’s already my orientation. Shame! It should be originally Tuesday; I just asked to re-schedule it since I have a duty in DZRH during Tuesday.
It was then again re-scheduled on September after I admit my ongoing practicum in DZRH.
My friend offer me an indie film, I think I would prefer to be there instead.
At 6pm, I attended a talent conference for my short film. It was fulfilling to settle many matters especially concerning my children talents. I have the burning passion in film. I can feel slightly fatigue for having no rest day. But I am happy.A Day at 71st
July 15, 2010
Today is the 71st Anniversary of DZRH.
I arrive to the office facing many people in barong. There are lots of foods and everyone seems busy socializing.
Today’s concert which I was assigned to be the Technical Supervisor was cancelled due to the cyclone yesterday. We didn’t make it to prepare well. However, we pursue the Job Fair and Medical Mission. It was fun.
I have received free 10 hours as my token. I didn’t work on the news desk today aside from answering some calls.
I only took 4 hours in the office; I need to rush to my 1:30 class which is unfortunately cancelled. But it’s okay, I just took the opportunity to attend meetings and bonding with my theater group, and to finally work my accreditation as a transferee. Two steps ahead then I can breathe and just prepare for my application of graduation.
I promised God to go to church today, but I didn’t make it. I’m so busy which I can’t find time to my most important meeting.A Grief to Basyang
“Para po ito sa kapakanan ng mga mangingisda, winasak ang 14 na bangka ditto sa Bataan.” I answered a call from a woman of Maribeles, Bataan , who wish to report an unexpected tragedy of their town because of the inaccurate report of PAGASA.
I asked my supervisor, Mr. Sherwin Alfaro if we can air the grief of this woman. Seriously, Sir Sherwin gave me a command to call the woman again for 3:00 news of Mr. Reggie Espiritu. I felt grateful.
As a concern person who sympathize to what happened to their town, I made a promise to call the woman again to report her complain and expression to the PAGASA on air.
When I reminded Mr. Reggie Espiritu about what happened to Maribeles, Bataan, I was badly disappointed to hear his word, “Saka na ‘yan, unahin natin yung mas importante”.
Time goes by, the word “saka na” turned to become “wag na”. The report of this woman didn’t get a chance to be on air.
There are lots of problems I received this morning, asking for help, announcements, and clarification. I am always desperate to help to all of my callers.
I realized that there are many stories and problems surrounding the country and the world. But everything is just a story; it’s a part of everyday life in news center. A single story is just a particle of many stories. Nothing personal. How cruel it is.
The big and important news are those news came from the big and important person as well, If not, a story is just like a grain of sand in the wide seashore.
Here are some problems I received, asking for “Serbisyong Publiko”:
· Lost bag of documents and almost 12, 000 pesos left from the taxi.
· Looking for a text mate
· Bed ridden auntie, need an electricity to support her breathing.
· Resume of working time.
· Electricity problems
· Suspension of classes
Some of the lead I got from the reporters:
· Phil. Coastguard, tuloy ang search and rescue sa mga nawawalang mangingisda.
· Isang ginang ang namatay matapos makuryente, habang 2 magkapatid ang nadaganan nang nabuwal na puno ng mangga habang natutulog-patay.
*1 day ago, I watched evening news of ABS-CBN telling the story of 14 boats destroyed by the typhoon Basyang. I felt the sense of pride. If they just listened to me, we might be the first to report this news.
The Cry of the Land to PNOY
The Hacienda Luicita massacre has been seen as a first real test of character to President Benigno “Noynoy” Cojuangco Aquino’s candidacy and now for his credibility as a newly elected president.
The Hacienda Luicita massacre of November 16, 2004, along with the shooting of farmers on June 22, 1987 protest, an incident better known as Mendiola massacre, these two incidents represent the dark side of Aquino legacy.
The truggle between farmers and landowners of Hacienda Luisita, whose family has owned the land since 1958 began when government lenders obliged the Cojuangcos to distribute the land to small farmers by 1967, a deadline that came and went. Pressure for land reform on Luisita since then reached a bloody head in 2004 when seven protesters were killed near the gate of the sugar mill in what is now known as the Luisita massacre. This is the story of the hacienda and its farmers, an issue that is likely to haunt Aquino as he stand as a president.
And now, what does Noynoy Aquino doing in the most controversial issue surrounding Noynoy and his family– The issue of Hacienda Luisita and land distribution to farmers.
A lot of people think that one reason CARP failed is because of the Stock Distribution Option (SDO). Also, it is seen that the SDO has been able to keep farmers out of their land. The main beneficiary, seem to be your very own family. And in the end, farmers still receive barely anything from what they have put into Hacienda Luisita. Does he think this is right & what will he do different as president that will give the balance of power & justice towards the farmers?
Aquino made a simple statement in relevance to the issue during the time of election campaign; he made it clear though that he only owns less than 1% of Hacienda Luisita. The farmers have been with the Aquino family for decades. They wouldn't want to burden the farmers by selling the land to them. The farmers are good at tilling the land but they are not businessmen. Hacienda Luisita land is also still in debt, how would the farmers be able to pay it without much experience in managing the land? Noynoy also said that there are currently 10,000 farmers. If they distribute the land as is, 1 farmer can only own less than 1 hectare, and also not all of the land will be equal in terms of fertility. There's nothing a farmer can do if a non-fertile land was given to them.
Noynoy stressed that if they wanted to be selfish, they could just easily sell the land, possibly getting Php 4.5B without worrying about debt or his image in the 2010 elections.
P4.5B = P100 per square meter x 10,000 square meter per hectare x 4,500 hectares
But according to Noynoy, the Aquino family treats the farmers like their own family (they were workers since 1958). With that, they would want to transfer the land to them debt-free. Noynoy Aquino even gave a timeline that by the year 2014, the land will be fully transferred to the farmers. Noynoy already asked his extended family to find means to transfer the assets free of debt. While this is being worked on, they will follow what current agrarian reform program has. He said that 70% of Hacienda Luisita is still owned by the Aquinos/Cojuancos while 30% will be paid as stock dividends to the farmers.
One very worrying statement that Senator Noynoy Aquino said when he said the fact that his family still considers SDO as an option. And yet, Risa Hontiveros has stated during the election that as president, Noynoy will implement CARPER fully.
Noynoy is understandable and how he may actually want the best for the farmers, but there are too many issues, and even some discrepancies in statement and actions that still does not have convinced many people if the issue of Hacienda Luisita will be resolved in his presidency. Even in his answers, knowing full well that this issue has been ongoing, does not give concrete action plans as to how to transfer the land to the farmers (without debt), if indeed that is the end goal of his family.

Easy Sunday
Today is my first day of practicum. Its Sunday, so desperate I am that I didn’t attended a mass. I’m afraid on how many Sunday masses I will not attend because of my practicum. Sorry God.
Everything is so easy in the station, it is normal during Sunday according to the old interns who assists us. But we should expect hassle works during week days.
I have written two broadcast news today and speak live on air. It was so exciting, I am so nervous during off air that I almost shake on the cold studio.
Working on news is not an easy thing, it’s never a play. We should be serious and attentive, smart and clear. That makes me more nervous.

DZRH instead
I just got a practicum at the DZRH which I have received a phone call yesterday for an orientation today. I was torn between two stations; the other one is the DZAR which also gave me a reserved slot. I am flattered that I am just choosing a station while others can’t find any.
I made a decision, I rather be on DZRH though far from my home in Pasig than DZAR, I can just go to my Auntie’s house in Cavite. The station’s studio is located at the CCP Complex in Pasay.
I chose DZRH because of its prominence as considered as one of the top stations in the AM band in Metro Manila and is recognized as the oldest radio station in the Philippines. I am sure that it will add more challenges in me, well I love challenges, It gives me such fulfillment of living.
Moreover, the station is just beside the Cultural Center of the Philippines, I can now visit CCP regularly.
I will have my first duty on Sunday, July 11, 2010. My schedules will be during Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Sundays. Strictly two interns in the station, 3 days a week.
I just had a photo shot at the Tronix, Harrison Plaza for my KBP ID. It’s been a year since I had taken an ID picture. It seems that I didn’t look different (slightly in my sight).
Early School Year's Agony
Summer vacation has ended, I only have number of rest days. I just finished my summer claswhile I am working for our group thesis and script in our extended film subject. I am also motivated to do my duties in my orgs. and to my production team. A very busy summer for me. While I am hoping not to get sick. I am a sickly person.
I have the experience that every early semester, I often got sick. It takes for almost a week.
Tomorrow, the students will be all tightly packed in school and in the road. While I don't have class. However, I have works to do, I need to apply for additional subjects, we call it ACE FORM. I have also meetings to attend and deadlines to meet. Nevertheless, I ca't do it.
I have an infection in my knee, I can't walk firmly or even stand. It hurts since I have this last week.
I wish I can able to go to school tomorrow, tomorrow will be the start of my class and I have many things to do.
A Blessed Scouting Day
I just got my first semester practicum at the DZAR Sunshine Media Network International a radio network of ACQ-Kingdom Broadcasting Network in the Philippines. It is the well talked radio station established by the well known evangelist Apollo C. Quiboloy.
It’s my first time to be in a 30th floor. It was amazing. I wonder how astonishing outside. I met some of my classmates and colleagues who are also working their practicum in this station. It is nice to be there.
I sacrifice my classes and activities this day to scout a radio station. My adviser, Prof. Bernabe rushed me to lessen my work for the following months.
I am blessed that I am easily accepted and reserved me a slot on July 19. Moreover, Our house is just a stone away at the Jollibee Plaza in Ortigas.
I can relax, I lessen my problems.
